Applications are now open for the North Capital Main Street Small Business Sustainability Grants.
North Capitol Main Street is pleased to announce its FY 2021 Small Grants Program. Grants will be offered in amounts up to $3,000. The grants will be available to business within the North Capitol Main Street boundaries along North Capitol Street and along First Street, N.W. and Second Street, N.W., from New York Avenue on the south to Rhode Island Avenue on the north and the unit blocks of all east-west cross streets between those two north-south thoroughfares with priority given to those businesses actually located on either side of North Capitol Street.
The grant application will open on Monday, February 1 and will close on Friday, February 19 at 11:59 pm. Award notifications will be sent by March 5.
What is the Sustainability Grant Program?
The Sustainability Grant Program provides direct-to-business funds to support emergency needs, particularly during the COVID-19 crisis. Businesses can apply for grant funds to support back rent, utilities, inventory, equipment or other necessary items for business sustainability.
Businesses will need to provide a detailed explanation of their expenditures and, if awarded, provide relevant receipts for all grant funds.
The following types of businesses are ineligible to receive assistance under the Program:
- Adult entertainment
- Phone stores
- Home-based businesses
- Businesses with more than 5 locations within the District of Columbia and more than 20 locations throughout
- Non-profit organizations
- Businesses that do not have direct street frontage
