North Capitol Main Street welcomes our newest team member, Cristine Davis. Cristine will serve as a program manager and support small businesses along the NCMS corridor.
Cristine Davis is an arts management professional whose career has included strategic planning, board development, marketing and communications, program management, operations, and staff development. Also a dancer, Davis is trained in Cecchetti ballet, jazz, rhythm tap, and contemporary dance forms. She was a member of Pittsburgh-based Xpressions Contemporary Dance Company directed by Staycee Pearl where she performed works by Robert Battle, Darrel Crown Moultrie, Norma Jean Barnes, and Kyle Abraham.
Most recently, Davis was the owner and director of District Dance Arts, a dance studio offering ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and creative movement in northeast Washington, DC. In her role, she managed community partnerships, led classes and rehearsals, planned performance seasons, wrote curriculum, and managed a team of administrative and instructional staff. Prior to becoming the full-time director of DDA, Davis was the General Manager of the Performing Arts Alliance (PAA), a national coalition of nonprofit performing arts service organizations dedicated to advocacy for federal policies that impact the sector.
Davis holds a BA in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh and a MA in Arts Management from the Heinz College of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University. She is a professionally certified dance instructor through Dance Masters of America, Inc., and the Cecchetti Council of America, and is a member of the International Association of Blacks in Dance. She is currently studying towards a Masters in K-12 Dance Education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
